Forging Freedom.

Senior Management

The senior management team is composed of individuals with decades of experience working for the federal government, vendors, large integrators, and small businesses. We have worked together on many projects and have witnessed firsthand those business practices that work and those that do not. We've taken the best practices from our experiences and come up with our core standard processes, which we utilize in day-to-day operations and in managing relationships with our vendors.

Dana Gift, CEO/CFO

Dana Gift is the CEO, CFO, and Co-Founder of Freedom Consulting Group. Dana has spent over two decades working in the intelligence community both as a government employee and as an employee for other small and large companies. As co-founder of Freedom, Dana instills his principles of being customer oriented and employee focused.

With a B.S. in Mathematics and Computer Science from Bridgewater College and a M.S. in Computer Science from James Madison University, Dana began his career at the National Security Agency as a government employee. While at NSA, Dana was a recipient of the Director's Productivity Improvement Award for his database application work in the Information Assurance Directorate. Dana continued his career at Oracle Corporation where he was a Practice Manager for Oracle's consulting practice at NSA, as well as BCCi where he was the Managing Director of the Database Solutions Group.

Dana grew up in Westernport, MD, a small town in Allegany County. Growing up in a small town known for coal mining and in the shadow of the Westvaco paper mill, Dana developed a strong work ethic, which he brings to Freedom. Dana and his wife Laurie have three children. He enjoys playing racquetball, tennis, and spending time outdoors.

Norm Walters, COO

Norman Walters is the COO and Co-Founder of Freedom Consulting Group. Norm has spent his entire career working in the intelligence community, first as a member of the U.S. Air Force, and later as both a government employee and an employee of large and small consulting firms. One of Norm's goals in co-founding Freedom was to create a business built on honesty and integrity with a reputation for excellence.

Norm began his career as a Russian linguist in the U.S. Air Force, during which he attended night school to attain a B.S. in Computer and Information Science from the University of Maryland. After separating from the Air Force he worked briefly for Computer Sciences Corporation before being hired as an employee of the National Security Agency. During his tenure with the NSA, Norm completed a Masters degree in Software Engineering from Central Michigan University. After leaving the NSA, Norm worked as a PeopleSoft consultant for Booz-Allen and Hamilton, and subsequently for BCCi, before founding Freedom with his business partners.

Norm is a native of Oil City, Pennsylvania, located in rural northwestern PA. An area once known for its booming oil and coal industries, this area became very depressed after both industries went bust. Growing up in a poor area under difficult circumstances, Norm quickly learned the value of hard work and self-reliance, as well as the importance of education in building a solid future. He also learned from his grandfather, a lumber mill worker, that a man's word and his reputation are everything, both in personal relationships and in business.

Norm and his wife Brenda have two daughters. He is very active in his church as a deacon and as a leader in the youth and young adult ministries.

Scott Beall, CTO

Scott Beall is the CTO and Co-Founder of Freedom Consulting Group. Scott is a Maryland native, growing up in Bowie, Maryland. Scott began working with information technology in high school. His experience starts with punch cards and languages such as Basic, Fortran and Cobol on HP Mainframes.

After graduating from Bowie High school in 1982, Scott attended the University of Maryland, College Park. He graduated from Maryland with a B.A. in Political Science, then began his career at the National Security Agency as a contracts specialist. During his tenure in NSA contracts, Scott used his skills in information technology to automate the tracking of purchase requests. For his efforts he received the Directors Award for Productivity Quality and Service. After moving to the contracts IT support division, Scott led the development of NSA's contracting system Wardance (Wardance is still in production 15 years after its release). It was during this time that Scott was introduced to the Oracle database system.

Before leaving NSA in 1998, Scott received his Masters degree in Computer Science from Johns Hopkins University. His first job as a consultant was with Oracle Corporation as a principle consultant. While at Oracle, Scott specialized in multi-lingual applications and database administration. After two years at Oracle, Scott accepted an offer to start a database group for a small business - Baesch Computer Consulting (BCCI). During his time as technical director for BCCI, Scott and his future partners, Dana Gift, and Norm Walters, learned many of the lessons that became core values at Freedom Consulting Group. After BCCi was sold to a larger company, Scott, Dana and Norm moved on, starting Freedom Consulting Group in 2004.

Scott and his wife Laura have four children. They live in Eldersburg, MD in beautiful Carroll County. He enjoys camping with his family, hiking, biking and skiing.
